Honey’s story from her new forever family

A stray dog wandered past a house at work today. I was holding an open house in Orange. She didn't have a leash, and she was injured. The moment she saw me she tried to run across a busy street to me. I went out and directed traffic to allow her to cross safely. I was with my friend & Co-Worker Mauricio Roque.

The very first car that passed by us, stopped to help. They got out and made sure the situation was being handled, provided a blanket food and water. Mauricio drove her to two vets. While he was with her at the first vet, I was calling around to animal rescues. I got a call back from Shadow Husky Rescue located in Lake Elsinore. Tim runs the place. Coincidentally, Tim was only 20 minutes away at the “Katella Animal Clinic” in Anaheim. Tim offered to meet us there to get this 72lb Female Husky checked out and bathed.

The Katella Animal Clinic diagnosed the injury on her head as a severe burn, likely caused by some boiling liquid or grease. They treated her by scraping the wound to clean off the dead flesh, to disinfect, and apply ointment. They prescribed pain medication, antibiotics, and rest. They were not able to give her a bath because of the burns.

She is now resting in our living room. My wife Rachel and I are going to foster this pup for a couple of days. Tim from Shadow Husky Rescue is confident that he will find her a permanent home in a few days.

In addition to Mauricio’s help, The Passerby’s help, The Shadow Husky Rescue's help, and The Katella Animal Clinic’s help…. On top of all of that, a complete stranger at my Open- House called her [own] network of friends and found 2 more strangers to get in touch with me, to see if they could help in any way. Their names were Tahin and Lana. They insisted that I keep their phone number just-in-case. … just in case I needed someone to help out, or if we got in some sort of pinch with a medical expense or watching her or I don’t know what. The offer was just there to call them for help.

There are great people in this world. There are horrible people in this world. But, it was humbling, incredible and inspiring to see so many folks who are willing to step-up, (going about their busy lives ) to stop what they’re doing to lend a hand, to do what needs to be done, to do what’s right, and to be so damn compassionate. Love is in the air today.
